DesignerCon in Vegas, Baby – Vinyl Pulse

DesignerCon, the largest art toy show in North America, is less than two weeks away (11.15 – 11.17) and as you might have heard, has moved from Anaheim to Las Vegas at the Expo at World Market Center in downtown. As with many of you we’re excited and curious about what the newest iteration of the show will bring to collectors.

The booth lineup looks quite strong with many of the previous vendors returning for this 1st Vegas show. including Medicom Toy, Pop Mart, Jermaine Rogers, ToyQube, Punk Drunkers, How2work, 3DRetro, DKE, Toy Tokyo, Creature Bazaar and Super7 to name just a few. Also, there are some notable first time appearances and special guests including Kasing Lung, creator of the wildly popular Labubu, Rockin’ Jelly Bean, Robbi, Superplastic and more. Be sure to check out the full vendor list/map.

As you might expect booths will be offering tempting exclusives (more posts soon). One new wrinkle is that the show has partnered with EQL to offer app-based raffles to streamline the process of buying high-demand releases. Each vendor will have the option of using EQL. So far we believe that Medicom, How2work and Punk Drunkers will be using the system for at least dome drops.

Among the many fun things to look forward to for DesignerCon are the artist-designed badges for VIP, Weekend, Saturday, Sunday, Press, Etc. This year How2work curated a group of eight Asian artists to each design a badge: Kasing Lung, Kohei Ogawa, Shon Chen, T9G, Shoko Nakazawa, Jessica Ng, Louis Wong and Kila Cheung. Likewise, DCon’s series of billboard ads continue with designs by Kasing Lung and Kasing Lung.

When in Vegas… DCon has a full nightlife lineup planned with one party each night (starting pre-show on Thursday) at a different Tao Group nightclub (admission with DCon badge) and the official after party at Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart. So if you’re wondering what to do after the exhibition floor closes for the day, wonder no more.

And finally, DCon is offering several different passes, much like in previous years. For the dedicated collector the VIP 3-day pass ($99) is the way to go as it is the only way attend the Friday VIP night and also includes early admission (one hour early) on Saturday and a Vegas-themed 100% Be@rbrick. There’s also a Weekend 2-day pass ($40), Saturday 1-day pass ($40) and Sunday 1-day pass ($40).

See ya there!
