Paramount and WildBrain Bring Hit Series Sonic Prime to Nickelodeon
Kids and family entertainment company WildBrain is working on an agreement with Paramount to bring the TV show “Sonic Prime” to Nickelodeon. “Sonic Prime” has 22 half-hour-long episodes and one hour-long special and follows Sonic the Hedgehog as he explores the different worlds of the Shatterverse in an attempt to save his friends and fix his reality from falling apart.
SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog is one of today’s most popular entertainment brands. Sonic Prime is a huge hit with fans and a terrific example of how, at WildBrain, we are able to partner with IP owners to drive engagement for brands. With their strong track record of Sonic content across highly popular live-action feature films and their Knuckles series, Paramount is the ideal partner to extend Sonic Prime’s popularity with new audiences around the world on Nickelodeon.”
The series, co-produced by SEGA and WildBrain and animated in the latter’s Vancouver studio, will come to Nickelodeon for Australian and U.S. viewers on Dec. 7, followed by Italian viewers on Dec. 23. From there, the show will launch in the U.K., Germany, Switzerland, and Ireland next year.
“Sonic Prime captivated the Sonic community and audiences worldwide when it was released,” adds Ivo Gerscovich, Senior Vice President and Chief Business and Brand Officer of Sonic, Head of SEGA Brands. “Making our content as accessible as possible to our dedicated fanbase is something we always strive for, and being able to bring Sonic Prime to more viewers worldwide is the perfect way to bring that to fruition.”
The show also has toys produced by both PMI Kids’ World and JAKKS Pacific that are available for purchase.
