Disney Store announces September opening date in Philippines – DisKingdom.com
Disney Store is growing around the world, just not so much where it started. While Disney Store remains a shadow of its former self in the United States, and is non-existent in Canada, the format is growing in many countries. The newest on the list is The Philippines, as DisKingdom previously reported in April.
We now have an opening date for Disney Store’s first ever Southeast Asia location, SM Mall of Asia. The store will open just a tad under three weeks from now, September 27.
SM Mall of Asia is nearly a million square feet larger than Mall of America, making it the sixth largest shopping centre worldwide. The mall and Disney Store are both owned by conglomerate SM Group, which has experience in the field as owner of the Toy Kingdom chain, which has 23 stores. They’ve used the Disney Store brand in Toy Kingdom locations since 2023.
The mall itself has worked with Disney Parks, bringing Princess Aurora in last year.

Disney has store-in-store partnerships in Mexico’s Liverpool department stores, launched in 2021, and in South Korea’s Hyundai department stores, launched in 2023. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates share 25 store-in-stores. In the United States, Target’s store-in-stores take a far more limited form, without separate staff or involved displays. Kuwait is seemingly the only other country where Disney has launched a standalone store with a partner, aside from its decades-long Disney Store Japan partnership.
