Mattel Toasts to Its 80th Anniversary with Philanthropic Global Initiatives
Mattel, a leading global toy company known for iconic brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels, is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
To commemorate this milestone, Mattel is hosting a year-long event called 80 Moments for 80 Years. This initiative will highlight the company’s legacy of giving back to communities.
In 2025, Mattel plans to donate resources and funds to over 80 nonprofits worldwide. Throughout this year, the company will launch over 80 philanthropic initiatives as part of its Play it Forward program.
This program will include donating, volunteering, and collaborating with nonprofits, supporting children, families, and global communities.
Since Mattel’s founding in 1945, giving back has been at the heart of our mission, embedded in its culture and amplified through the purpose of its brands. As we celebrate our 80th anniversary, we’re continuing to Play it Forward by partnering with over 80 of our longstanding nonprofit partners.
This year, Mattel will build on its philanthropic legacy and showcase decades of past partnerships and charitable efforts, affirming its belief that every child deserves to play.
Past initiatives include Make Summer Fair, which addresses critical gaps in early learning in rural America, and International Day of Play, which promotes children’s health worldwide. These are two examples of the many efforts made, with 80 Moments for 80 Years being the latest.
