Scalextric Zooms Into 2025 with New Slot Car Race Sets

The new year has barely begun, but Scalextric is putting the 1:32-scale pedal to the medal.

As a subsidiary of Hornby Hobbies, Scalextric has become synonymous with the high-octane world of slot car racing. To steer 2025 in the right direction, the U.K.-based brand is releasing a new assortment of racing vehicles, scale model cars, and starter kits this winter. From historic models to film recreations, this collection will tempt racing enthusiasts of all ages to go out for a spin.

Scalextric’s new collection celebrates the dedication and artistry required to produce vehicles by honoring historic designs, manufacturers, and racers from years past. Fans can collect detailed pieces of motorsport history, like the British Touring Car Champion Volvo 850 Estate or a recreation of the first-ever Land Rover. Scalextric also takes inspiration from motorists of the modern age, releasing packs of vehicles modeled after Gordon Murray, Colin McRae, and Ken Miles’ featured designs.

The collection includes faithful reproductions of nostalgic pop culture cars, like Dom Toretto’s Dodge Charger from Fast & Furious or Captain Scarlet’s Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle. However, superfans can take their racing to the next level with the Fast & Furious Hot Laps Race Set. This unique track combines slot car racing with the retro charm of arcade games. Fans can race head-to-head against Fast & Furious stars while reliving every exhilarating moment from the films. The set also includes a link to download the Hot Laps app, transforming racers’ phones into a lap and checkpoint tracker so they never miss a minute of the action.

If kids are just beginning their slot car racing journey, Scalextric is releasing a new line of playsets with everything they need to zoom to victory. With My First Scalextric Let’s Play!, kids ages 3 and up can race against each other with colorful R/C vehicles. Available as either battery or mains-powered, this playset is a beginner-friendly way to introduce a new generation of racers to the tracks.

Visit Scalextric’s website to see the full range of 2025 vehicles and preorder before the new cars officially launch later this winter.
